In 1975, Karui made the first tree crusher in Japan.
Karui was founded in 1916.

Shohei Takahashi runs a gunsmithing business in Iyomishima, Ehime Prefecture.
1916
Established Takahashi Manufacturing Co. Started selling agricultural machinery.
1918
Completion of air-cooled oil engine. Sales begin.
1921
Entered the first agricultural oil engine comparison test sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce, and was awarded the highest prize.
Since it was the lightest weight engine among the foreign and domestic models, it was named the Karui-type oil engine.
1925
The Karui oil engine won the highest award in the first comparative review of oil engines for agricultural use organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
1930
The Karui-type oil engine won the highest prize in the second comparative review of oil engines for agriculture sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and was recommended by the ministry.
1939
Relocated from Iyomishima, Ehime Prefecture under the Yamagata Prefecture Business Attraction Law.
Established as Yamagata Engine Manufacturing Co.
It became the first company to be invited to Yamagata Prefecture.
1940
With the enactment of the Tohoku Promotion Law, the company merged with Sakata Noki Co.
The company name was changed to Tohoku Shinko Noki Co., Ltd.
and became a national policy company under the umbrella of Tohoku Kogyo.
1941
The Karui-type oil engine was awarded the highest prize in the third comparative review of agricultural oil engines sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
1943
Merged with Sakaku Spray Mfg. in Hirosaki City.
1944
The company name was changed to Tohoku Zoki Co.
The company became a factory managed by the Navy Ship Administration Headquarters and the Ministry of War Food and Powder.
1946
At the end of the war, the company was designated as a special accounting company and began its maintenance plan.
1947
Awarded the highest prize at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry’s Machinery Testing Laboratory’s general-purpose internal combustion engine comparative review.
1949
It was awarded the highest prize in a comparative examination of general-purpose internal combustion engines sponsored by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry’s Mechanical Testing Laboratory.
1960
Company name changed to Karui Industry Co.
1964
Canal pump developed.
1965
Passed state inspection in the canal pump and liquid pump department.
1967
Research on Self-Priming Pump” was awarded a subsidy from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) for the improvement of small and medium-sized enterprise technology.
1974
Cumulative sales of canal pumps reach 300,000 units.
1975
Developed Japan’s first tree crusher.
1976
Built and relocated a factory to the western industrial park in Yamagata City.
1977
The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) grants a subsidy for the improvement of small and medium-sized companies’ technology for the research of hydraulic cutting shears.
Started sales of tree crusher “Kalui Chipstar”.
1981
“Shell Crusher” is developed and launched.
1990
Company name changed to Carlui Corporation.
1991
Developed and started sales of “Recycle Crusher”, a food waste crusher.
1997
Started sales of a large-size shredder, “Green Shredder”.
2000
Began sales of the Baby Shredder, a compact crusher.
2002
Started sales of NEW chipper “SCUT (2 types)”.
2005
Started sales of NEW 13ps chipper “Drakon (2 types)”.
2006
Started sales of NEW 10ps chipper “Acute (2 types)”.
